Nickname: Evergreen Peace
Description: Young Living’s late founder, Gary Young, used to tell groups he spoke to that he couldn’t think of a single use that Idaho Grand (former Balsam) Fir wasn’t a great fit for. High praise from someone who truly understood the properties of this evergreen, and apparently ever useful, essential oil. Its scent is deep and rich. You can almost forget where you are for a moment when inhaling its woodsy and peaceful aroma.
Emotionally, this oil is phenomenal as it helps to bring balance to the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems, meaning our Fight-or-Flight response can receive a dose of balance – and perhaps take a break!
This oil is excellent for the adrenals that have been pushed a little far, the immune system stretched a little thin, and the whole person who feels not quite enough for all there is to do and be.
Home: Idaho
Key Constituent: Alpha-Pinene
Historically used for: ability to help respiratory conditions, muscular and rheumatic pains
Application:
- Apply to muscles and joints as needed (can dilute with carrier oil for easier application)
- Apply to neck, jaw, or crown of the head as needed to relieve tension
- Diffuse or inhale as needed to support seasonal immune health
- Apply over the bladder to support urinary tract health
- Diffuse and use as needed to support the sinuses, throat, and lungs
- Apply over the adrenals (just above the kidneys) to support a balanced Fight-or-Flight response and to rejuvenate the glandular system
- Diffuse to support emotional health at large! And also specifically to release feeling inadequate, scattered, and unsupported.

If I were stranded on an island with five oils, this would be one of them, hands down, no question!
Idaho Grand Fir was the second, Frankincense being the first.

I use it for so many areas of support and wellness and the effect on my body is powerful!
