Here is a SHORT QUIZ to take to help you decide if your lymph system needs to be cleansed.

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, your lymphatic system may need a tune up.

The lymph system, being part of the circulatory system, is a major organ of the immune system. When you eat food, your body digests that food for its nutrients and then sends those nutrients to every living cell in your body. When the cells finish processing these nutrients, some waste is created.
The waste matter from each cell must be removed from the body or it will “drown” in its own waste. The lymph, which is throughout the body, is the “highway” by which these wastes are transported from the cells to the blood, to the colon and kidneys for elimination.
One of it’s main jobs is to remove waste that was created after the cell has finished processing the nutrients. It essentially acts as a mini sewer system! (AKA the official nickname “the garbage disposal” of the body).
The body is about homeostasis, the balance of systems, energy and chemical processes, etc. within the body. When the body is in alignment it begins to put itself into balance.
The lymphatic system is the key to keeping the body in total and complete harmony with all other organs (digestive, immune, cardiovascular, circulatory, hormones, etc). The digestive tract is also crucial to maintaining balance in the body.Exploring the lymphatic system on various levels, you see this is a much understated functioning system.
It’s well-known that the skin is the largest organ in the body. The skin is responsible for one of the most important detoxification processes each way, making it one of the most important elimination organs. This is also known as the third kidney, and the lungs are known as the second kidney.
Toxicity can gather beneath the skins’ surface from such influences as improper pH levels, body soaps and creams. Antiperspirants, as well as synthetic fibers that have been next to the skin, can contribute to both a variety and severity of skin problems and conditions.
The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in your body’s ability to heal from injury, ward off disease, and restore itself to the high optimal level of health. It’s essential for the body to act as the main drainage system for cleansing and filtering our toxins and bacteria.
The lymph system has no central component, independent muscle contraction through deep breathing, exercise of manual manipulation, or fluid which can cause blockage of the lymphatic system. There is no way to release toxicity in and through the lymphatic system other than movement of the lymph fluid.
These toxins enter the lymphatic system and accumulate daily. Each one of us is holding a bio-burden if the hundreds of pollutant intestinal toxic chemicals we have taken in. These are important to our health!

There has been a lot of talk about the dry brushing so let’s break it down a little!
There are SO many benefits to dry skin brushing – stimulates your lymphatic system, exfoliates your skin, increases your circulation, reduces cellulite and improves your digestion and kidney function! See why you ALL need to be doing this??
Many naturopathic doctors use dry brushing to help with bloating because massaging the lymph nodes helps the body shed excess water and toxins. I follow the advice of Dr. Mercola and here is his suggestion:
“When brushing, always brush toward your heart, which is best for circulation and your lymphatic system. You can brush your entire body (including the soles of your feet). Start at your feet and work your way up your legs to your arms, chest, back, and stomach. Avoid brushing your face (unless you have a special brush designed for this delicate skin), your genitals, or any areas with irritations or abrasions (including varicose veins).
The pressure you apply while brushing your skin should be firm but not painful (avoid “scrubbing”). Your skin should be pink after a session (not red or irritated) and you can brush for as long (or as little) as you’d like. An average dry brushing session may last between two and 20 minutes.”
And I love this testimony:
“I’ve only been at this for about two weeks, but I’ve already experienced many of the benefits listed above. For one thing, dry skin brushing just feels really good. It’s one of those miraculous practices that manages to be both relaxing and energizing all at the same time. For another, it cured my cellulite! …Dry skin brushing also helped heal some ingrown hairs and some innocuous though unsightly bumps on my arms. My skin is softer and no longer dry or flakey. Additionally, though I’m not sure whether or not it’s related to dry skin brushing, I must say that I’ve been sleeping better and experiencing less ‘brain fog’ throughout the day!
Use cel-lite Magic after

𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺?
The lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs made up of lymph vessels, lymph nodes and lymph that drain lymph fluid (a fluid containing white blood cells, water, proteins, salts and lipids) from all over the body.
This network of tissues and organs help rid the body of toxins, waste and other unwanted materials. It is the immune systems highway, the bodies sewer system, and fluid maintenance.
Your lymphatic system 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀-𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, maintains body fluid levels, absorbs digestive tract fats and removes cellular waste. So, you can see why this detox is an important one!

Considering the areas where your dry brush, a good cleaning would be good every few weeks.
Here is how I clean mine:
- Fill a bowl with just enough water for the bristles
- Add 4-5 drops of Young Living’s Purification oil or your Rosemary oil
- Agitate the water moving the brush around in the sanitizing water, both freeing dead skin cells and distributing the essential oil amidst the bristles.
- Shake it out over the sink and then add fresh water to the same bowl, rinsing the brush in the same way you washed it. Do the rinse process twice.
- Lay the brush bristle-side down on a towel to dry overnight and it should be ready for you again by morning! Super-fast and simple!
Have I mentioned that the lymphatic system is larger than the circulatory system but has no pump?
Our bodies have 3 times the amount of lymph fluid as blood, and it has to circulate from the bottom of our feet up against gravity!
The lymphatic system relies mainly on skeletal muscle contraction to move it. That means the less we move, the less it pumps. Thankfully there are ways to get it moving and grooving again!
- Legs-up-a-wall pose:
You can find me doing this most days, but especially after traveling, being on my feet all day, or sitting all day. This pose is just as it sounds, and is pictured below. Let gravity help your circulation and lymph get to moving. (side benefits-decreases stress, stretches lower back, increases flexibility)
- Rebounding:
Jumping on a mini trampoline is said to increase your lymph flow by 15%! Any amount of time is good, but 10 min is ideal. (Side benefits: Burns calories, cardio exercise, easier on joints than running)
- Hot-Cold Showers:
Hot allows our vessels to expand, cold contracts them-alternating has a pump like effect moving our blood and circulation. Start out in your normal hot water for at least 3 minutes, then alternate cold and hot for 30 seconds. Think those old bath houses knew what they were doing sending everyone through hot and cold pools? (Side benefits: Increases circulation, improves mood and focus, may help sore muscles)
- Dry Skin Brushing:
You are making your lymph flow when dry skin brushing. (Side benefits: Increases circulation and removes dead skin cells making skin smoother)
- Diaphragmatic Breathing:
The cistern chyli is the most common drainage trunk for the majority of the body, as you breathe the abdominal cavity and lungs inflate, press on the trunk and cause it to drain. All breathing works like this on the lymph, but diaphragmatic breathing increases the drainage. Try to do 10 diaphragmatic breaths 3x a day. (Side benefits: helps reset your adrenals, helps you relax, strengthens your diaphragm, increases oxygen)
- Move/Exercise:
Skeletal muscle contraction is the primary way lymph is moved in our body, any type of movement helps it flow, but exercising increases the flow exponentially (side benefits: to many to list!)
- Vibrational Plate:
High frequency vibrations activate lymphatic channels and stimulate muscles to contract which promotes increased lymph flow (Side benefits: stronger bones and muscles, weight loss, better balance).

Lymphatic congestion is a 2 part process
- Lack of lymphatic flow
- Overloaded system
We have discussed ways to increase your lymphatic flow and help it get moving and grooving, now let’s discuss the overload portion of lymphatic congestion.
Unnatural chemicals are added to our foods, personal care products, and cleaners.
- Highly processed foods are one of biggest culprits as they contain artificial ingredients such as preservatives, additives, and flavorings.
- The amount of unnatural chemicals in our soaps, shampoos, toothpastes, and detergents; dishwashing liquids; air fresheners and scented candles is to comprehensive to list here, all those chemicals are entering our body and our lymph is working overtime trying to keep up.
- The amount of toxins our bodies are trying to eliminate on a daily basis is unprecedented. It becomes more and more challenging for the lymphatic system, and other detoxification organs to effectively filter out so many toxins.
- The lymphatic system is part of the immune system that produces and releases white blood cells and other immune cells to fight against microbes and other substances as well as absorbs fats, fat-soluble vitamins, and proteins from your intestines and transports them back to the bloodstream.
- When the lymphatic system is congested and unable to filter out the toxins effectively, it is no longer as effective at its other jobs creating a list of possible symptoms.
Eliminating, or greatly decreasing, the amount of unnatural chemicals that enter your body, through the digestive system, your skin, or even your nose, is the best way to ensure your lymphatic system is not overtaxed!

Let’s chat about our girls shall we?
Breast health is an important part of all women’s health and wellness routine, and the lymph system plays a crucial roll in that as well.
Our breast have lymphatic vessels just as every other part of our body. They pump by the natural movement or bounce, yet we prevent this with our bras. To take it a step further, we wear to tight bras and underwires in our bras, both that can restrict lymphatic flow. Keep those girls healthy and toxic free by:
- Ditching the underwire (there are many good options now for underwire free bras)
- Making sure your bra fits correctly-no red marks or strap marks
- Spend time each day without your bra on
Having breast swelling? Tenderness? Try this Specific Lymphatic Breast Massage technique to help get that lymph moving:
- Put your hand in your armpit and push inward and upward. Go deep into the armpit. Pump upward and release. Do this ten to twenty times.
- Grab your entire breast and move it upward toward the armpit. If your breasts are large, this may take more than one hand position. Do this ten times.
- Grab your breast and pump directly inward toward the chest wall. Do this five times.
- Holding your breast stable, pump the upper inner quadrant of your breast up toward your neck. Do this five times.
- You can do the pumping more than the recommended number of times if you like.
Some Wireless bra options: Soma, Ruby ribbon, Woxers, Daypiper, Shapermint.

Safe these to your phone:

𝗔𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿…𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆!
• Lightly massaging 𝗖𝗲𝗹-𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗢𝗶𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝘆𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 on your body daily (I personally do this in the shower, you will smell amazing!)
• Apply 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 into lymph areas {avoid sunlight on those areas} armpits, groin, behind knees, ankles.
• Optional: Drinking or capsules of Citrus Fresh will be beneficial as well but is not necessary
• 𝗗𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆. Before you shower is ideal, but anytime will work!
• 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼-𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 often, focusing on the tender spots.
• Complete a 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘅 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵 with Rosemary or foot soak every 3 days, you may do this more if you have any detox symptoms

• 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 well throughout the day with filtered water!
• 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 daily 2-3 capsules 2x daily. I do not take multigreens late in the evening as it gives me a big boost of energy.

Do you have any detox symptoms? Have no fear, they are all minor and temporary symptoms. Use your oils to help support your body through it.
Make sure you are HYDRATING,
and don’t be afraid to add more detox baths to your routine. Maybe even alternate a full bath with a foot soak. Make sure you are drinking water – I drink a glass with a sprinkle of sea salt before, during and after my detox bath to help flush out all the nasties! (Recipe for Detox Baths in the lymph instruction document in-yes recipe is for one bath)
Did you know that in addition to helping flush out toxins in your body, detox baths have a host of other benefits?Let’s look at the recommended detox bath ingredients and purposes:*

4 bags of Epsom Salt: is magnesium sulfate, it is easily absorbed through the skin boosting the bodies magnesium and also detoxing chemicals, metals, radiation etc.*
You will take around 5 baths with each 4 cups (less if you only do foot baths). Each bag contains around 6 cups.
Baking Soda: is a drawing agent, has antifungal properties, digestive benefits, help reduce irritating germs, neutralizes chemicals like chlorine, reduces itchiness, and is alkaline which helps your body release more toxins*
- Oxygenates the body,
- antiviral and antibacterial,
- can help kill of toxins, and other nasties in the body,
- helps clear residue from personal care products,
- purifies the skin
Why so much? It creates an osmotic pressure that pulls more out of the body. You will most likely sweat. It is best to hop in the shower after to rinse off any residual toxins on the body.
𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘅 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿:
- Soothing skin – Epsom salt helps to soften and remove dead skin cells. The skin is a primary detox pathway of the body and the cleaner it is the more it can function
- Reducing stress – Baths in general help with stress, but the magnesium in the Epsom salts can also help improve stress levels.
- Helps with a good night’s sleep – Epsom salt to the rescue again…the magnesium not only helps relax you but can help ease you off into a nice sleep.
- Helps reduce body soreness.
- Boots immune health

Let’s take a moment to remind ourselves to HYDRATE!
And, no…that does NOT mean an extra cup of coffee today. Water is crucial for your health.
Lymph – the fluid in our lymph system carrying all that junk out – is made up of 96% water.
Dehydration greatly impacts the lymphs ability to move. Hydration is important for your lymphatic health on a daily basis, but even more so when detoxing.
Being fully hydrated benefits:
- Helps regulate body temperature
- Helps keep joints lubricated
- Helps the immune system
- Helps deliver nutrients to your body
- Helps your organs work properly
- AMAZING for skin!
- Can improve sleep
- Can improve mood
- Helps support cognitive health
Do you have a hard time drinking water? Try adding in citrus fresh a few drops in glass or stainless-steel water bottle-not plastic.
Not a fan of that taste? I love YL Vitality drops. They come in 4 flavors,
Electrolytes drops: Grapefruit Bergamot and Lavender Lemonade and Energy drops Jade Lemon & Berry and Spearmint & Tangerine. They are all amazing flavors and truthfully are my families go to when we need to drink our water.
Be honest, who here has a super hard time getting in enough water?
PRO TIP: Water should be the first thing that you drink in the morning-your body tends to crave what it gets first. Have a bottle of water by your bed, and when you wake up just down it!

Let’s talk about everyone’s favorite word…𝗘𝗫𝗘𝗥𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗘!
We all know we need to exercise, but for today, let’s focus on the lymphatic system and exercises that help keep that lymph moving!
A mini trampoline, or rebounder, is an excellent way to drain the lymphatic system. Not only is it good exercise, it’s incredibly fun!
𝗕𝘂𝘁, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 rebounder, 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀:
~Yoga is great to help stretch your body and keep that lymph free flowing/draining.
~Any exercise that has bouncing movement, gets your muscles moving and increases your heart rate such as running, walking, jump roping, or most any cardio.
𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲?
~Neck rolls
~Shoulder rolls
~Head tilts
~Shoulder shrugs
~Pelvic tilts
~Leg flexes
~Ankle pumps
You can read about how to do the above stretches at the following link:

So, what are these weird points we are rubbing every day?
Frank Chapman – an osteopath, found that he could improve the functioning of the lymphatic system by massaging what is now known as the neuro-lymphatic reflex points.
The NL reflex points vary in size to a small pellet to a small bean, can be palpable, alone or in groups – sometimes scattered over an entire muscle.
- They are located mostly on chest and back.
- They are stimulating neurologically to the lymphatic system in each area of the body (and to the organs and glands themselves)
- These points can turn off when the system is overloaded and regulate the system.
- They do not correspond with Lymph glands, the link is neurological.
- Deeply stimulating the Neuro-lymphatic points will help to: Energize you. Remove toxin from the body.
- Try and do these massages on the daily. Better yet, get your significant other to help do them for you!

Do you have extra body odor? Hopefully this has passed, but let’s chat about body odor and deodorants.
First, sweating is good and a necessary function for our body. It is one process in which our bodies eliminate toxins, but no one likes to stink. So we layer deodorant that not only blocks the toxins from being released, it adds toxins to it! Aluminum, Parabens, Talc, Triclosan, and synthetic fragrance to name a few.
If you have been using these deodorants, this is your sign you stop! The transition to more natural options can be difficult, but an armpit detox can help.
Here is the recipe I use (I make extra and use it on my face as well!)
1 t apple cider vinegar
1T bentonite clay
1-2t of coconut oil
1-2t water
a few drops of patchouli, lavender, or essential oils of choice
mix and apply to underarms until dry!

Make sure you are still applying those oils, dry brushing, and drinking your water! Don’t forget about the detox baths and neuro lymphatic points we talked about. It may seem like small, silly tasks, but trust me they are all leading us down the path of better health!
Speaking of better health…how has your eating been? The more I detox the more I crave healthy foods, and the more I can tell not so healthy options are effecting my body. THIS IS A GOOD THING!
Don’t spend the next week continuing to detox your lymphatic system all the while eating junk-Eliminating the toxins we put in and on our body will make this challenge even more effective!

Brusha brusha brusha…today we will focus a bit more on dry brushing. This concept has been around for centuries! Other than it is stimulating the lymphatic system and circulation (which is why we brush towards the heart) If you need more details on dry brushing check brushing 101 on the top.
𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴:
~Exfoliates the skin giving it better health
~Helps the body rid itself of toxins
~Helps to increase energy
~Helps to release stress
~Can enhance nutrients absorbed by the skin (oils too!)
Make sure you are using a fair amount of pressure but not SO much that you look like you used sandpaper to smooth out your skin.

Let’s chat about Cypress. This is one of my favorite oils. I gravitate towards it often. Cypress has a fresh, herbaceous aroma that can promote a sense of security and grounding.
Cypress is included for MANY reasons:
~Skin health
~lymphatic congestion
~circulation
~supports the urinary system
~liver support
~fluid balance in the body
~lung support
~Women’s monthly support and menopausal support
Cypress is also great for respiratory support and emotional balance. It is the best oil for releasing grief stored in the body.

Citrus Fresh/ Citrus Fresh Vitality essential oil is a blend of Orange, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Tangerine, Lemon, and Spearmint essential oils. This blend is a POWERHOUSE of oils, much under-utilized in my opinion.
~Boost Immunity
~Supports bodies natural detox processes
~Breaks down petrochemicals
~Breaks down fat
~Supports a healthy metabolism
~Promotes healthy circulation
~Supports a healthy microbiome
~Antioxidant benefits
~Liver Support
As if all of this isn’t enough, Citrus oils are made from the rind of their fruit and are extremely high in D-limonene. This one I am going to make you do some research on your own, but there are some very promising benefits being studied with D-limonene that makes me ecstatic to have this in our home!
*REMEMBER* Citrus oils can make your skin more sensitive to sun exposure. If you plan on using this oil topically (outside of the challenge) make sure to put it where the sun don’t shine or refrain from direct sunlight or UV rays for 24 hours as suggested on the label.

Rosemary essential oil is the perfect support in our detox baths as it has support for anything and everything our bodies are working to push out!
~promotes healthy liver function
~antioxidants
~supports a healthy immune system
~helps with bloat
~supports the respiratory system
~stimulate the memory
Look this one up in your Essential Oil Desk Reference to see even more reasons it is included in our detox baths!
